The Masters of the Universe are Sovereigns over their ImagiNation
My initial thoughts on my screenwriting and directorial debut.
In 2014 I had aspirations for expanding my Mind Glow Media brand beyond internet blogs on metaphysics, history, and esoteric philosophy.
Since then I’ve published 2 classic non-fiction books (one of which was an excellent modern work of cultural anthropology), offered creative consulting on a few art projects, executively produced a great album, did some private catering as a certified chef, and I’ve introduced The Indivisible College blog that is ideologically more mature and refined than my original Third Eye Max blog from 2009 – 2019.
Most recently, I’ve screen written and directed my very first film in Medellin, Columbia. Not only is it going to go down as a great first effort. It’s going to be a great film that opens portals to new and dynamic creative opportunities that I do not currently foresee because I do not have a Bird’s Eye View of my future. Still I can say that my partners and I didn’t make a movie. We produced memorable cinema on a modest budget.
Directing was an enjoyable learning experience for me because I was open to being a student of my experience, as opposed to going into it as an arrogant No It All leaning on my past successes as an award-winning writer. I now see through first hand experience why directors are stereotypically portrayed in pop culture as assholes and control freaks with immense artistic vision. I recorded the video below for your personal reference.
You have to have the spirit of a colonizing conqueror and the heart of a wide-eyed, exuberant child to coordinate all of the minor and major details that go into telling a coherent and engaging story with a camera. These are the very things I felt within myself when I felt most creative AND in control. I could’ve been more iron-fisted and more intuitive in a few instances as I was feeling my way through a new experience in an unfamiliar environment. Nevertheless, I undeniably got the job done!
Sometimes the original vision you have for a scene is altered by necessary changes in location and unexpected variances in weather. When I wasn’t completely certain about how to get the most out of a scene or a shot I welcomed the insightful input of my production team, while adding my own embellishments to their creative recommendations.
Cinema is an evolution of the live theater experience, but live theater is a liberal art. Inherent in the disciplines of the Liberal Arts are transferable life principles that help to liberate the soul from self-imposed limitations over time through dedicated repetition and study. Through cinema screen writers and directors actualize the dream vision that the aboriginal people of Australia have conceptualized as Dream Time.
Academics, David Leong of the University of Canberra, and Oxana Zinych of Charisma University have proposed the notion that our nightly dreams are nothing less than portals opening the way to alternative dimensions of reality. Through the artful recording of your projected imaginings, you figuratively become a Cloud Architect as my brother Chris Magneto says. Fictional screen writers and directors are the Master Masons of the Meta Real which has unlimited potential within the endless permutations of human perception.
I look forward to sharing the product of our collective film effort in 2025. I give thanks and praise to the Creator for infusing me with the spark to be a mini creator within my own domain of exploration.
As the child of my progenitor I do the fly shit that they do, but on a lesser scale. You will observe me building worlds because my Father builds universes. May you find liberation through your own art of choice. Peace.
