This is very insightful. I have been guilty of being a sucker for nostalgia but now I have to unpack and process why is that so. Heavy content and I dug the images.
Same. I started watching 80s again after my mom transitioned. I enjoy watching it with fresh eyes and the nostalgia but I also remember it as a time when she was in the prime of her life. It reminds me of that sense of childlike awe and wonderment that I fight to maintain amidst life’s obligations which require calculated thought and discipline.
I think its the sharp decline in testosterone that men who dont implement health and dietary restrictions have.
Funny, I just got on one of my friends who is a tall intelligent black man about doing something with his life other than his 9 to 5. Wasted talent.
I see it alot working in corporate America, with the various roles ive had. The older a black man gets in their system, the more ass he seems to kiss for financial security and social relevance..
This is a Cold Blooded Break Down, but Oh SO REAL!!! I was thinking about a similar subject today. Many of the figures who shaped my mentality and philosophy in this life died at ages way younger then I am now? Sometimes I may feel that my life is a failure but would any of these Men trade places with me? What Price can you put on every day of Life? We have to stop Living in the Past, or comparing our lives to what Celebrities or even our So-Called Revered Ancestors have done. The Question is What are you doing? Are you Living Your Purpose? A few Examples....... Malcom X(Left this life at age 39) Bruce Lee(Left this life at the age of 32) Tupac Shakur( Left this life at the age 25) These are just a few.
See, that’s the other part of it! A lot of times we’ve already surpassed the people we used to look up to as far as how we measure up to our own ideals in the present. However we may still be looking at ourselves through the lens of how we saw ourselves back in the day so we don’t see our own evolution and shift in values over time. We can still admire people while recognizing that we’ve grown beyond the qualities they have that initially inspired us. This helps keep us current.

Powerful. I see this with men across the board. Also, many hold on to the rebel icons of their youth because the rebel inside of them has died.
